Illinois Biodiversity Field Trip for Kelvin Grove 7th Grade |

On May 12, 2010 Kelvin Grove School seventh graders and their teachers traveled to the Environmental Learning Center in Mokena, Illinois to explore a stream and pond ecosystem during an educational field trip. The on-site school programs at the ELC are part of the Forest Preserve District of Will County. Natural
Resources Concepts addressed were: Students attended three educational classes: Animal Signs, Pond Exploration and Flowering Plants. The ELC staff conducted the tour and taught these classes. Biodiversity Gallery - Posting Soon! The goal of this field trip enhanced the 7th grade science curriculum as well as incorporating Illinois species as the basis of this trip by allowing students to identify, study and classify components of Illinois within outdoor natural habitats. Students learned about Illinois natural resources by studying habitat composition, environmental change and populations. |
