Target Population
Students enrolled in the participating schools:
Chaney- Monge District 88
Richland School District 88A
Fairmont School District 89
Taft School District 90
Lockport District 91
Students that show early indicators of mental health needs
Students that are experiencing crisis/trauma
Program Goals
- To identify and meet the early intervention mental health needs of
students
- Develop a coordinated, collaborative student mental health system by
establishing interagency linkage agreements
- Reduce the stigma associated with mental health and mental illness
within the school community
Program Objectives
The BRIDGES Program is a partnership between Lockport District 91and Center
for Family Services (CFS) designed to provide mental health supports to
regular/mainstream education students in order to improve educational outcomes
by increasing attendance, decreasing discipline referrals, and improving test
scores.
The services that will be provided by a Qualified Mental Health
Professional (QMHP), to the students and the school include the following but
are not limited to:
- Crisis Intervention
- Screening and assessment
- Individual and group counseling
- Skill-building
- Family support (providing resources to link families to needed services)
- Peer/Adult mentoring (e.g., student/ student or teacher/student)
- Teacher consultation and education " Mental health awareness
education
