YAY!  You will need the class activation code, which I previously sent home with your kids.  As the teacher, I have to submit the order at the end of each month, so expect your book orders to arrive around the first of every month.

  Thought for the Month:

"There is no time like the old time, when you and I were young,

when the buds of April blossomed, and the birds of spring-time sung!

The gardens brightest glories by summer suns are nursed,

But oh, the sweet, sweet violets, the flowers that opened first!

~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Sixth graders:  Enjoy the spring season and all its beauties... Work hard fourth quarter, and know that summer vacation is just around the bend!

*Extra Credit Opportunity: Write a poem (3 stanzas, five lines each) about spring!  Include a simile, sensory detail, sound effect, and hyperbole!  This offer Expires: 5/15/12

“If I Were in Charge of the World”

Written by: Judith Viorst AND Austin J

If I were in charge of the world

I’d cancel books, spoiled spinach, bugs, and also Madonna.

If I were in charge of the world

There’d be tangy tangerines, indestructible spleens, and candy ten times bigger.

If I were in charge of the world

                                You wouldn’t have cancer

You wouldn’t have sickness

You wouldn’t have homework

Or “It’s due in two days!”

You wouldn’t even have to do it.

If I were in charge of the world

Funnel cakes covered with cinnamon sugar

Would be healthy

All humans would be humorous

And a person who is really small

And acts really tall

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world.
