MATH

This week we are reviewing following skills:  reading and drawing bar graphs, pictographs, and line graphs. The students will be given a math review test on Wednesday  to assess their level of mastery of these skills.  We are also practicing all our addition facts this week.  The students will need to  complete 100 facts in 5 minutes.  We will go back and forth practicing addition and subtraction facts each week until the end of the year.  It is very important to practice the facts with your child so they can get them memorized.  Please help your child review so they will be prepared to take the test on May 16th.  Our next subtraction fact test will be May 15th.

SCIENCE

This week we will continue learning about weather.  After brainstorming all kinds of weather words and sorting  them by seasons, we learned about the water cycle and how water gets into the air.  This week we will learn how weather conditions are measured, and use a bar graph to show weather data.

SOCIAL STUDIES

In our unit, "We All Work Together", we will be learning how small businesses work, and comparing and contrasting different kinds of markets around the world. We will also recognize how people can put their special talents to work in a community.  We had a wonderful time on our field trip to Berkots. It provided a great opportunity  to discuss many of the things  we are learning about communities.

GEOGRAPHY

This  week we will use our maps of the United States and the world to answer the Geography questions.  There will be questions about states, their capitals, countries, continents and oceans.   I found a fun website you can use at home to help your child identify the fifty states and their capitals.  If you would like to visit it, here is the link.         http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/web_games.htm
