Grade Happenings:
PHONICS: Words with a long 'i' silent e pattern (words like cake)
VOCABULARY

COMPREHENSION: Identifying the characters and setting of a story

Grade Happenings:
PHONICS:
Words with 'ar' -- (words like start). We will continue to review short/long vowel patterns in words
VOCABULARY WORDS: folk tale, tattered, delight, tumbled, leather, midnight
STORY: The Big Pumpkin
COMPREHENSION: Sequencing events in a story; compare/contrast two stories
Third
Grade Happenings:
Beginning this week we will be focusing on preparing for the ISAT tests. We will not have a weekly story, vocabulary list or comprehension skill. Instead, we will be using a variety of different texts (both fiction and nonfiction) and we will be practing reading the test and reviewing the different strategies we have learned that will help us to answer the questions about the passage. I will be working with the students in their regular classroom during the next few weeks on ISAT preparation.
