During the next month, we would like to identify students who will be new D91 Hornets in kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. If your family has an incoming kindergarten student, please let us know! Click here to join our mailing list and receive all the kindergarten information. Please note that to attend kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year, students must be at least 5 years old on or before September 1, 2026.

If you have friends or neighbors with young children who will attend our district, please encourage them to complete our potential student survey, so they can be included in district communications.

School Board Announces "New" Superintendent

The Lockport School District 91 Board of Education has named Mrs. Jaime Koziol as the next superintendent of schools, starting July 1st, 2026, to succeed Dr. Kathleen Wilkey, who is transitioning to a new opportunity at the end of the school year. Mrs. Koziol currently serves as the Building Principal at Milne Grove School, a role she has occupied for fifteen years.

The school board reports being excited about the promotion of an internal candidate with a proven track record of success within the Lockport School District 91 family. Her passion for our school district is evident in her ability to work collaboratively with the students, parents, families, staff, and community while demonstrating her commitment and capability to succeed in this new role.

Mrs. Koziol earned her Superintendent endorsement through the Educational Leadership Doctor of Education Program at the University of St. Francis. She earned her Master of Science in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Lewis University. With only 2 courses remaining for completion, Mrs. Koziol will be engaging in coursework through the University of Illinois Springfield to complete the Chief School Business Official endorsement.

I am truly thankful for the opportunity to continue leading within the community I am proud to call home."

Will County Regional Office of Education Announces
Milne Grove Principal as an Educator of Excellence

The Will County Regional Office of Education has named Milne Grove Principal Jaime Koziol as one of the first annual Educators of Excellence award winners. This recognition celebrates the impact, dedication, and the difference she makes for students, colleagues, and the community.

The Educators of Excellence Awards honors one recipient in Will County in each of ten award categories including early career educators, classroom teachers, teachers of diverse learners, certified student support staff, building principals, and innovation in education. Nominations for the award were submitted to the Regional Office of Education in November and a panel of regional educators then conducted a blind review of the nominations to narrow the field to three finalists per category. The Regional Superintendent, Dr. Lisa Caparelli-Ruff, selected the final winner from each category.

Jaime Koziol received the Educator of Excellence Award in the category of Building Principal for her extraordinary work as leader of Milne Grove School.

“For fifteen years, Jaime Koziol has been far more than an administrator; she is the undeniable heart of Milne Grove School. Leading a building of Pre-K through third-grade students requires a unique blend of patience, vision, and warmth, and Mrs. Koziol embodies these traits daily. She has successfully cultivated an atmosphere where learning is the center of everything, grounded in the belief that a calm environment produces the best educational outcomes. Her commitment is personal. As a community member whose own two sons graduated from the district, she is deeply invested in the town’s success. She is not just preparing students through third grade; she is connecting with them as they grow into adulthood, with many former students returning to visit her years later. Jaime Koziol does not just run a school; she builds a community, proving daily that her dedication to school improvement is second to none,” Dr. Kathleen Wilkey, Superintendent, shared about Mrs. Koziol’s impact on her school.

Mrs. Koziol will be honored along with the other county winners at a special awards ceremony on April 2nd.
